Tossing this out there for members. The South Shore Camera Club just did a gear swap and sale that was pretty successful. Especially for folks who were trying to unload some of their gear and get professionally used and cared for stuff.

Can we do something like this at an upcoming training? Maybe as a lunchtime thing? OR can we get more folks participating on the forum and sharing what they're looking for and what they're looking to sell?

Asking this because I have an 11-18mm, a 30mm 1.4, a Canon 7D, and various other lenses and gear that I'm not using. Getting a little cash for that stuff would make it much less painful to go get new gear.

    Who's in the same boat?

    Thanks!

We should do this!  Again.  I know we had a Social which included bringing/selling/swapping/buying gear.  This would be great to do regularly.

I think it is a great idea.   How can this be implemented?  Can we do it on this forum?

I think this is a wonderful idea also.  Since we are pretty diverse geographically, I'd also suggest doing something "virtual" and maybe also ongoing. Maybe a new forum can be added and publicize this forum (a sentence or two will do) in the newletter or one of your email blasts.  I think the current forum just doesn't get the viewing to make it successful.

These have always done well with our members. We have had them at both our Quarterly programs as well one year at our Trade Show. In addition to the "Summer Social" 2 years ago. Our members love it and it's a great way to be able to network as well as sell equipment/props. There was a big supplier we had supporting us that had complained when we had it at our Trade Show and at the programs that it was taking people away from purchasing at their booths. Since they were big supporters of our group we felt it was best to keep it away from our programing and keep it to social parties. Now that this sponsor is no longer in business we me want to revisit this idea once again. I think at the programs is the best place and not during our Convention since there is too much going on then and it would be a nightmare trying to allocate room for it. I suggest you just write a quick email to Steve Sedman (Our new president as of May 1st) to put in writing so he can present it to the board for discussion and possibly implementing it.

Great ideas come all of us put together. As Susan Asaro said...we are much better together!

    Good morning all

Just keep in mind that our other vendor is in the same position and might post the same argument as well

    Thank you

Yes I agree, a separate yard sale event maybe annually.
