Join Steve Sedman and Scott Levine for a delightful day learning to see the light and create beautiful portraits in a great outdoor location. Bring your camera, equipment and enthusiasm. We'll bring the models.
This program will start in The Studio where you will learn about the different tools and options for lighting that we will use on location later in the day. This instruction will include both flash, constant and available lighting. We will cover modifiers for flash and constant lighting such as soft boxes, umbrellas, reflectors, scrims and gobos. We will go over a multitude of lighting problems and how to solve them.
After that it’s off to a few awesome portrait locations The Middlesex Fells Reservation with the models to practice what we have learned in class. You will experience both great light and bad light and how to add or take away light to make any location work.
The last segment of the class will be processing the images we took on location. We will see the results of the techniques learned in class and also go over workflow and post processing for a portrait session.
Biographies
Steve Sedman, M. Photog, Cr: Owner of Sedman Photography of Braintree MA. for over 20 years, Stephen possesses a unique mix of Fine Art, Computer/Internet, and Photographic experience. He earned a BFA at the Swain School of Design, attended both the Museum School of Boston and Tufts University. Stephen’s paintings, sculpture and photography are in many public and private collections throughout the country. Awards: 4 Kodak Gallery awards, 3 Fuji Masterpiece awards, 2010 PPA Bronze and several Court of Honors at PPANE and PPAM. He photographs weddings and portraits throughout New England. He is a past President Professional Photographers of MA.
Scott Levine, Cr Photog: Scott Levine is the owner of The Studio | BestHeadshotsBoston in Stoneham MA. Scott is a Second Generation photographer with over 30 years in professional photography. He earned a BFA in Commercial Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. Scott was awarded “Best of Boston” from Boston Magazine for Wedding Photography. Scott taught Commercial Lighting and Location Lighting at Theia Studios in Andover MA, provided Beta testing for Eastman Kodak, Lumedyne & Mamiya. Now concentrating on Headshots and location portraitures, Scott continues to explore and harness the power of light.
All PPA member attendees will receive 1 Merit.
