Senior Photography - A Different Focus

Cynthia shares how learning to focus differently changed her photography business.  Learn how the power of focus brings freedom, confidence and consistency.

Seniors are a fun and easy group to work with. This workshop will cover initial contact, consultations and in-person sales,    We will discuss the photo session, lighting, getting good expression and what to do about mom!  This is not a class about volume or school photography.

Bio:

In February of 2010, Cynthia Hovda checked a book out of the library on digital photography.  In May she acquired her first DSLR Camera and by October that same year was running a business photographing children and families. One year later her artwork was on display alongside other professional photographer’s work at Dulles International Airport during the Gateway Photo Exhibit titled: “DC: More than Monuments”.  The following year she entered PPA’s IPC and earned her first merit.  It seemed as though her photography career was off to a good start however, she moved from the DC area to Massachusetts in 2012 and her photography business stalled.  After a few false starts Cynthia re-started her business in 2018 and earned her CPP that November.  Today she runs a gallery/studio in historic downtown Sandwich, Massachusetts.

Cynthia’s work has been described as simple, unique and beautiful.  In 2019 Cynthia decided to specialize in High School Senior photography which she says gives her the freedom of focus.   Her current memberships include the Professional Photographers of America, Professional Photographers of Massachusetts, the Professional Photographers of Cape Cod, the Sandwich Arts Alliance and the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce.

Cynthia is married and has four adopted children. She enjoys playing tennis, sunny days at the beach and spending time with family and friends.
