Lou Freeman has been a full time working as a photographer for 25 plus years. Creative from a very early age, her photographs were first published when she was 13. Since that time, she honed her skills working as a fashion and advertising  photographer. Her work has appeared in hundreds of publications, branding campaigns, as well as national magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Seventeen Magazine, Playboy, Sara Lee/Hanes Brands, Orvis, XOXO, Target, Sears and many others.

She has been awarded the opportunity to photograph many accomplished celebrities and music artists such as Tiger Woods,Jaime Foxx, Lisa Bonet, Lisa “Left Eye “Lopes as well as producing music videos for some of these many talented artists she has come in to contact with.

“The magic formed for me as a photographer when I realized I could join the technical side of photography with art to develop fashion editorials and advertising shoots” adds Freeman. That combination made me fall head over heals for photography.

“I design photographs that create an image and  branding for most of my clients to promote themselves and/or their products”, She explains.

Freeman was one of the first female photographers at Playboy, and sees her time there as significant because of the lighting skills she developed. “The lighting techniques I created with the magazine shaped my lighting techniques for my life as a photographer.” she says. Today she is writing a book about her life as a photographer,  the profound effects from shooting with Playboy and how they have created this life long beauty style she shares with us today.

However, what she sees as  her greatest accomplishments is the work she created in Europe for Italian Harpers Bazaar. “The experience was a validation for me.”notes Freeman. “I felt that for the first time, my photographic vision was able to stand alone as complete in the industry of fashion photography. This opened the door for the hundreds of shoots I have accomplished in magazines, department store shoots, clothing, and advertising campaigns.
